BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Bangor officials worked to bring their community together Monday evening.
Bangor High School served as the site of an interfaith dinner.
The theme was Many Faiths, Many Cultures, One Community.
Organizers thought it would be a good opportunity to get people from all backgrounds together to break bread and provide a platform for discussion.
“I think it’s important for there to be a broad range of views and for us to respect those views and that everybody have an opportunity to speak their peace” said Bangor City Council Chair Joe Baldacci, “And do it in a way that’s constructive. I think we’re trying to talk about constructive dialogue and hopefully lead to constructive community involvement and action.”
The evening also gave folks a chance to learn more about the Maine Multicultural Center which is currently under construction.
